Google Reader. Stadia. Inbox. Bandcamp Daily. The list of services that vanished is long, and every one took something with it.

It is how we have been taught not to mind. Everything is a service now; stop paying and you're locked out of your own life. The same goes for hardware: ownership itself is becoming something you rent.

So I do what I can at my scale. I run my own servers, host friends and family, and trust open code over closed promises. It's a small proof that another way is still possible, and I think it can grow.
